Lenovo Advertising ThinkPad X60 on TV

I was watching the Olympics last night, and among the commercials, a commercial from Lenovo touting the new ThinkPad X60. The X60 is one of the first ultraportables shipping with an Intel Core Duo CPU, and while its 12.1-inch display still isn’t widescreen, it’s one of the newest ultraportables to consider looking at if you are in the market for one.

I found it very interesting that they have specific commercials for the X60, but then again I’m like that.

Apple Upgrades MacBook Pro for Free

Apple upgraded their MacBook Pro, even before it shipped. The low-end version now ships with a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo, while the high-end ships with a 2.0GHz Intel Core Duo, with an option to upgrade to 2.16GHz. While not an ultraportable, it’s a good sign of things to come when Apple does ship their first ultraportable Intel-based Macs.

Toshiba Portege M400 – Full Specs

Toshiba has recently updated the specifications for their new Tablet PC/Convertible Notebook, the M400. This is shaping up to be one of the hottest ultraportable Tablet PC convertibles around (having both a physical keyboard as well as Tablet PC functionality).

Combine the 4GB of memory, high resolution display, Firewire connection, SATA harddrive, and DVD burner, and you have an ultraportable video or photo editing machine.

Announced: Seagate’s 12GB 1-inch Hard Drive

Yep, you read it right – Seagate has a 12GB 1-inch hard drive on the way, according to TG Daily

How this will affect the ultraportable market has yet to be determined, but it provides a viable alternative to those companies looking to make very small Windows-running notebooks (in the 7-9 inch range) and who were considering loading them up with some kind of flash memory.
