Asustek/ASUS’ North American headquarters has issued a press release stating that the Asus Eee PC 900 is available for pre-order in the United States (and presumably Canada).
The press release states that the US is third behind Hong Kong and the United Kingdom as far as receiving the 8.9-inch ultraportable units. It will be officially available in the US on May 12, 2008.
There will be two models released, both with an MSRP of $549.99 (US).
One is the Eee PC 900 XP and it comes pre-loaded with Windows XP and 12GB of flash memory-based storage (4GB flash, 8GB HDD).
The other is the Eee PC 900 Linux and it comes pre-loaded with Linux and 20GB of flash memory-based storage (4GB flash, 16GB HDD).
Once it starts showing up at online retailers, we’ll post additional information.
