Acer Aspire One Officially Announced

Acer Aspire One Acer has officially announced the 8.9-inch Acer Aspire One today at the Computex trade show in Taipei, Taiwan.

The pricing starts at $379 USD, and it will be available in North America in the third quarter of this year.

It comes with a very handy feature (should you choose the flash memory-based Solid State Disk (SSD)): Smart File Manager, a simple solution that instantly and seamlessly merges extra storage from any SD card inserted in the second SD card slot into the memory available to the user.

Some thing that I would definitely purchase – it comes with a warranty can be extended for up to three years that covers accidental damage. Given that this is a device that is definitely going to be thrown in backpacks, etc., it makes a lot of sense to pick it up.

Additional Specifications:
– Battery life up to 6 hours with 6-cell, up to 3 hours with 3-cell
– 8.9-inch CrystalBrite LED-Backlit Display
– 1024×600 Resolution
– Storage: 8GB NAND Flash Module (SSD) or 80GB HDD
– Optional 3G2 wireless technology in the future
– Acer CrystalEye Webcam
– Initially comes in sapphire blue and seashell white colors
– Additional colors in the future include golden brown and coral pink

I have to say I’m very impressed with Acer’s Aspire One.
