Looks like the Dell E, aka the Mini Inspiron, (Dell’s 8.9-inch entry into the low-cost netbook market) could be available as soon as this August, according to DigiTimes.
DigiTimes is reporting that the Dell E will be manufactured by Compal Electronics, with Samsung Electronics, Chi Mei Optoelectronics, and possibly AU Optronics (AUO) providing the 8.9-inch panels (not at the same time).
The exciting part, assuming this is reliable (and they’ve been fairly accurate so far), is that Dell will be pricing this even lower than the 8.9-inch Acer Aspire One.
They are talking about prices starting at $299 USD, and they think Dell can ship 2-3 million of these units this year. At that price, there is certainly no reason why they can’t.
