Asus Eee PC S101 Introduced
October 3, 2008
Back in July, a roadmap for future Asus Eee PC offerings was posted online.
Among the netbooks listed were the S101 and S91 (presumably 10″ and 8.9″) under the “Ultimate” series, with a description of “Exquisite / Extreme Slim & Light” and a target audience of “Elite, Travel explorer, Free”.
Looks like we finally get to see just what Asus had planned for their “Ultimate” series - the 10.2″ Eee PC S101 starts at $699 (506 EUR) - $799 (579 EUR) and weighs just 1kg / 2.2 pounds, with a thickness of 18-25mm / 0.71-0.98 inches.
With a polymer battery and a “Super Hyrid Engine”, the S101 can reach up to 5 hours of battery life. It comes with either Windows XP Home or Linux and is available in three colors: Brown, Champagne, and Graphite.
Models:
- 16GB SSD: $699, Windows XP Home, Additional 16GB Secure Digital (SD) Card
- 32GB SSD: $699, Linux
- 64GB SSD: $799, Linux
