Lenovo IdeaPad S10e and SplashTop

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 A new model of the Lenovo IdeaPad S10 netbook is going to be available soon – it’s the Lenovo S10e. The S10e has “SplashTop” capabilities (or what Lenovo is calling “QuickStart).

What it allows you to do, and this is particularly handy for netbook users, is to get up and running with a web browser, email, and some chat programs such as Skype very quickly- think of it as a very lightweight OS built into the system.

It’s being referred to as “instant-on” and if you’ve seen SplashTop in action, it feels very much like “instant-on”. Whether this will be able to be added to S10s that are already out there, I’m not sure. There are new S10s on the way that will have upgraded hard drives (160GB versus the current 80GB) as well possibly a few other minor changes. SplashTop will apparently be either included or will be a separate model.
