Fujitsu P1610 to Have 3G UMTS/HSDPA Options

Fujitsu P1610
According to Core Duo News, Fujitsu will begin offering a 3G UMTS/HSDPA connectivity module for the
Fujitsu LifeBook P1610. This considerably broadens the connectivity capabilities of the P1610, one of the smallest ultraportable notebooks (which also doubles as a Tablet PC with its 8.9-inch widescreen touchscreen display), especially for those who travel a lot. This was announced on Fujitsu’s Asia/Pacific site – we are unsure if this will be offered outside of Asia.

The full press release is available here (Fujitsu.com).

Fujitsu “Helios” – New Ultraportable

jkOnTheRun has news from a reader at 3GSM (along with a pic, although parts of the laptop are hidden from view) of a new ultraportable laptop from Fujitsu, codename “Helios”:

Bruce tells us that the codename for the model is “Helios” and will be considered an ultraportable notebook, possibly weighing in just over 1 kilogram. Clearly, Fujitsu is keeping the “Helios” under wraps since they’ve got most of it undercover;

Review – Fujitsu P1610 (LAPTOP Magazine)

LAPTOP Magazine has
posted their review of the “convertible Fujitsu P1610. It’s one of the smallest “convertible” ultraportable laptops around – weighing just over two pounds, with an 8.9-inch display that swivels around and lays down to convert into a Tablet PC. It’s also one of the first to be shipping with Microsoft Windows Vista. They gave it 4 out of 5 stairs, complaining about the input (trackpoint-like instead of touchpad) and the resolution (they considered the resolution too high for the size of the screen).

Fujitsu LifeBook P7230 – North America

The Fujitsu LifeBook P7230 appears to now be available in North America (it had been available in Taiwan and elsewhere last month).

It has a 10.6-inch widescreen display and is powered by an 1.2GHz Intel Core Solo Ultra Low Voltage (ULV), and has an internal bay that can either be used for an optical drive (up to and including a dual-layer DVD writer), or for an extra battery that takes the estimated battery life from six hours up to almost 10 hours. It can be maxed out with 2GB of memory, and harddrives start at 40GB and go up to 80GB.
