August 12, 2008

Dell Latitude E4200 Both Engadget and Electronista have published up-close photos of the 12.1-inch Dell Latitude E4200 and the 13.3-inch Latitude E4300.

They didn’t limit themselves to the smaller models of course, included are images of the 14-inch E5400 and E6400, and 15.4-inch E6400 and E6500. Obviously a lot of thought was put into the designs. Lenovo IdeaPad S9 / S10 - Hands On / Video

August 7, 2008

Lenovo IdeaPad S9 A few days ago, Xavier at Notebooks.com got his hands on the upcoming 8.9-inch Lenovo IdeaPad S9.

The S9 and S10 are Lenovo’s first foray into the netbook / sub-notebook market, and Notebooks.com is one of the first sites to have a video preview (maybe even the first).

The S9 is based on the S10’s chassis (just a smaller display) and starts out at $399. Unfortunately it will not be available in the United States, at least not this year - it’s just the 10.2″ S10 for us right now (that seems to be happening with quite a few netbooks).

The video gives a good preview of the S9 / S10 - it looks really solid and really well made as far as the chassis and display, with a nice design. Unfortunately it was not fully functioning, so no benchmarks or anything of that nature.

Asus S101 - Not an Eee PC?

August 7, 2008

Asustek Just over a week ago, an Asus Eee PC roadmap was leaked. Among the details mentioned were an Asus Eee PC S101, which has a 10.2-inch LED-backlit display

The S101 was listed as a part of Asustek’s “Ultimate Series”, with the description of “Exquisite / Extreme Slim & Light” and a target audience of “Elite, Travel explorer, Free” (you’ll have to excuse the translations).

Now it looks like there is a possibility that Asustek may drop the Eee PC moniker from the S101, and maybe the S91, (which, going by Asustek’s naming scheme, probably has an 8.9″ display). This is being done due to the higher price and the target audience.

Specifications of the S101
- Intel Atom
- 32GB or 64GB Solid State Drive (SSD)
- Potential price tag of around $699 and $899 USD
- 0.63 - 0.83 inches / 16 - 21mm thick
- Weight: 2.2 pounds / 1kg
- Brown and white colors
- May launch in October

Included are imagines of the S101 along with a current Eee PC 901.

Sony VAIO SR Series - Korea

August 6, 2008

Sony SR Series AVING USA has news of the launch of the new 13.3-inch Sony VAIO SR series in Korea. It’ll be launching in three colors - silver, black, and pink.

News of the SR series was first back towards the end of June of this year.

It’s one of the more unique ultraportable 13.3-inch laptops in its class - it has the ability to have customized modes for different purposes (entertainment, work, etc.) with different settings enabled (and even different wallpapers so you are aware of what mode you are in).

AVING has posted several high-quality images showing you just how thin the SR series is (note that the bottom casing is black/dark and so it may look a lot thinner than it is, but it is still very thin).
