HP, Asus, and Sony Laptop Sale, Plus HP, MSI Netbooks

Amazon is running a special promotion - up to 20% off of select laptops from HP, Asus, and Sony, through July 8, 2008 (or until supplies run out, which some have already, and when they do, they drop off of the sale page).
You can find the sale here at Amazon.com. One that jumped out was the HP Pavilion TX2510US (Tablet) - 12.1″, $1050 (20% off, not yet released).
On a side note, the MSI Wind U100 that’s available (ships in 3-5 weeks) has been topping Amazon’s laptop sales list.
onSale.com is running a special that started a few days ago and that is running through July 7, 2008, on select netbooks and includes an HP 2133 Mini-Note at a low price:

You can find the HP 2133 Mini-Note (Model KR922UT#ABA) at the above link for $494. It’s the low-end HP 2133 and it’s got a 1GHz VIA C7-M CPU, 512MB Memory, 4GB Flash-based Solid State Drive (SSD) and an 8.9″ display, running Linux.
HP 2133 Mini-Note Review (TrustedReviews)

Andy Vandervell, of TrustedReviews, has posted a new review of the Linux powered version of the 8.9-inch HP 2133 Mini-Note, giving it a 7 out of 10. This version of the 2133 retails for between $500 and $600 USD (some places are changing the price almost weekly depending on supply).
A lot of people mention the HP 2133 Mini-Note as almost feeling like something Apple designed, and Andy commented on this, saying If the Eee PC borrows the MacBook’s iconic white finish, the Mini-Note PC feels far more like a product produced by the house that Steve Jobs built.
The biggest difference between this version of HP’s sub-notebook and the more expensive versions is the CPU, a 1.2GHz VIA CPU that Andy felt was underpowered when it came to video playback.

Amazon has an ultraportable 13.3-inch Sony laptop up on their “Today’s Deals” section, with quite a large one day only discount. It’s the Sony VAIO VGN-SZ691N/X (although it has been discounted this heavily in recent weeks, probably to be phased out for the Sony SZ7 series).

HP 2133 Mini-Note PC Availability (US)

I’m planning on buying an HP 2133 Mini-Note PC very shortly, and have been poking around the web, checking availability. The prices right now are all over the place - I’m guessing that with heavy demand and limited supply, some retailers are pricing accordingly. While I’m waiting for the Windows XP version in a few weeks (although it’s getting more and more tempting to grab one now and load XP myself), I was pleased to see that it’s in stock at some of the major US stores online :
