Controversy: Sony SZ160 – Confusion Over Carbon Color and Carbon Fiber

The Inquirer is reporting that Sony’s VAIO SZ160P and SZ160P/C notebooks and model numbers are leaving people (and Sony’s tech support and sales people) confused, as some models maybe shipping as “carbon coloured” with plastic casings rather than being made out of carbon fibre. This information came out of a couple of forum threads at NotebookReview.com. This concerns the differences between the P and P/C models as well as variations between countries. Note that we don’t have the full details yet, and will post them as soon as we have them.

MobileWhack has news of updates to the Sony ‘S’ lineup – including the introduction of Intel Core Duo and Core Solo CPUs.

MobilityGuru looks at Intel’s Mobile GMA 950 Integrated Graphics Chipset

Now that Intel’s GMA 950 integrated graphics chipset/GPU is starting to pop up in Core Duo laptops, MobilityGuru has published a review/comparison that mentions the performance of the Intel’s 945 platform in comparison to other chipsets or previous versions of the graphics processor. It’s mainly focused on the HP DV1000T (as that’s what it’s a review of), but interesting nonetheless.
