The Lenovo ThinkPad X61s has been spotted in use or being demonstrated in China during an Intel conference there this week. They are going to be based on Intel’s Core 2 Duo “Santa Rosa” platform. One specific CPU mentioned was the Intel Core 2 Duo L7300 – 1.40GHz, 800MHz Frontside Bus, and 4MB L2 cache.
For the most part, they are, visually, very similar to the ThinkPad X60/X60s with the exception of the following:
– Fingerprint reader moved to right of mouse/Trackpoint buttons
– Keyboard light shifted to left side of display
They appear to be keeping the 12.1-inch 4:3 non-widescreen display, as well as the overall design/layout.
