Sony has released an update to their current 13.3″ LED-backlight series, the Sony VAIO SZ6 series.
It weighs in at around 4 pounds / 1.8kg (with an internal optical drive), and is powered by Intel Core 2 Duos, on the Intel Santa Rosa platform. Sony is claiming 3-6 hours of battery life, depending on usage.
Once again, the model names are slightly confusing, but we’ll clear it up. They have the SZ6 series in two lineups – one is the “SZ Premium Notebook†and the other “SZ Notebookâ€. The “SZ Premium Notebook” has a dark brown carbon fiber casing with a unique gel surface that shows off the carbon fibers. It’s handcrafted and is a limited edition.
The SZ6 lineup:
– VGN-SZ691N/X : “Premium†$2699, Intel Core 2 Duo T7700, 2GB Memory, Sprint® Mobile Broadband service
– VGN-SZ680 : Build-to-Order, see our Sony SZ6 page for details
