Problems With ThinkPad X60/X61 Tablet PC Bezels

Lenovo ThinkPad It’s official (as of a few days ago), there is a problem with ThinkPad X60 and X61 Tablets and the bezel around the screens becoming unglued (causing the LCD/display to slightly separate from the bezel).

This was mentioned on a couple of sites’ forums (GottaBeMobile, ThinkPads.com, and TabletPCReview.com etc.), over the past month or so, but Engadget dug up a posting from Lenovo’s “Inside the Box” blog that included comments from Lenovo employees confirming the problem.

It appears they have been aware of it from postings elsewhere, but decided to publicly post on the blog once the comments about ruggedized laptops were pretty much taken over by unhappy ThinkPad X series Tablet owners.

The comment we have from Lenovo’s Tim Supples is this:

Thanks for sharing the links and input about the Tablet Bezel Glue Issue. We first saw the issue on various discussion forums and found some good discussion, analysis, and pictures shared there. Our engineering teams are aware of the issue and are investigating.

Tim Supples’ comments can be found at this Inside the Box posting (scroll down to the comments section).
