Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve – Available

Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve Looks like the Lenovo ThinkPad Reserve is finally available – ThinkPadReserve.com now allows you purchase one, with an estimated shipping date of 2-3 weeks. It’s available in the following countries, for $5000 USD + S/H: United States, United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, France, China, Canada, and Hong Kong.

You remember the ThinkPad Reserve, right? It’s basically a Lenovo ThinkPad X61s with some special features:
– Limited Edition production (and number)
– Leather case that wraps around (no word on heat problems, but the X61s is using a Low Voltage CPU)
– 24 hours/7 days a week phone support plus “Executive Support Staff”. This staff also performs “Preventative Maintenance and Tune-Up” of your ThinkPad Reserve
– In certain major cities, you are guaranteed on-site warranty service within four hours.

The ThinkPad Reserve is being released to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the introduction of the original ThinkPad, and there will only be 5,000 of them produced. Obviously this ultraportable laptop is targeted to those who have no problem spending $5000 on a ThinkPad X61s with support that is well above and beyond any you can get anywhere else – On-site service within four hours in some cities. For those who might need that, $5000 is probably affordable.
