LAPTOP Magazine has published their review of the Asus Eee PC. To be specific, it’s the Asus Eee PC 4G Surf, one of the low-end versions of the Eee PC, which comes with the standard 7″ widescreen display, 512MB of memory (may or may not be user-upgradable), 4GB of storage, and is missing the webcam and carrying case that come with the higher-end versions. They awarded it 3.5 out of 5 stars, saying
…the Asus Eee PC 4G Surf is a marvelous device that would make a good secondary machine for those times when you don’t want to deal with the bulk of a full-size notebook, or when you just want to hop online in a pinch without having to wait for Windows to load.
They are also running a series about giving up a regular laptop for the eee PC: Day One and Day Three. This little series will give you a good feel for the size and what, if anything you might be missing (although outside of the small keyboard/trackpad, much of it is easily fixed).
