The big news this week (at least so far) was of course the formal announcements of the 8.9-inch Asus Eee PC 900, their larger sibling to the 7-inch Asus Eee PC. This has been expected for several months, and this week the pictures and comparisons started flying around.
A price that was mentioned was 399 Euros for European versions, which comes out to just over $600 USD.
It’s slated to be released in the middle of 2008 (probably just in time for the back-to-school crowd in the US).
Among the upgrades over the original 7″ Asus Eee PC:
– 8.9″ Display with 1024 x 600 resolution
– Both Linux and Microsoft Windows XP options (or at least “Windows ready”) from the start
– 1GB of Memory from the start
– Up to 12GB storage (cheaper 8GB offered).
