Looks like Asustek might ship the 8.9-inch Asus Eee PC 900 with an older CPU in order to beat HP and Acer to the market.
According to DigiTimes, Asustek is hoping to beat out Acer’s 8.9-inch Aspire, as well as another laptop from HP, both of which use Intel’s Atom CPU/platform (SL Note: The HP 2133 Mini-Note PC uses a CPU from VIA).
Quote: Asustek Computer’s second-generation Eee PCs will hit the market in Taiwan in the second half of April ahead of first-tier competitors’ launches of their low-cost notebooks, according to sources in the retail channels.
They do mention that Asustek will use the Atom CPU in versions of the Eee PCs shipped later this year.
