Following up on a story from a couple of weeks ago, VIA Technologies is set to launch their Isaiah CPU next week, a few days prior to Computex. According to CNET, NVidia will be taking part in the launch, and will be providing the graphics processing for VIA-powered systems.
The Isaiah platform is supposed to be backwards-compatible and pin-compatible with the VIA C7 CPUs – at what point, if any, we’ll see the Isaiah in current VIA C7-powered devices such as the HP 2133 Mini-Note or the Everex CloudBook, it’s hard to say.
According to the article, NVidia’s Drew Henry believes it could outperfom Intel’s Atom platform. Considering we have yet to see benchmarks from either compared head-to-head, we’ll just have to wait and see.
