And we have another new netbook announced, this time it was done fairly quietly (Mobile Stylus picked up on the addition to Asus’ website). Asus has put up an official page about the 10″ Eee PC 1000HD.
It’s actually closer to the 8.9″ Eee PC 904HD than it is to its 10-inch counterpart, the Eee PC 1000H
The reason being, that even though it shares the same basic design and size as the Eee PC 1000 and 1000HD, and it shares the same 80GB Serial ATA (SATA) hard drive as the 1000HD, it actually is not powered by the Intel Atom.
It’s powered by a 900MHz Intel Celeron M, similar to the 8.9″ Eee PC 904HD (which by the way, is based on the 10″ chassis of the 1000 series, just with a smaller display).
That drops the battery life down to around 3.25 – 5 hours, but it could also drop the price substantially – might we see it in the $500 and under range?
