The 8.9-inch Intel Atom-powered Acer Aspire One is about to be available in Japan, at least the hard drive version (120GB HDD versus the 8 GB Solid State Drive (SSD)).
AVING is reporting that it will be available in Japan on August 23rd.

They are reporting that the Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price is 54,800(JPY) which is around $497 USD.
Based on the battery life, this will be the 3-cell battery version.
However, based on the weight and the price, this sounds like the 6-cell battery version. The 3-cell weighs less than 1kg, and the price is normally $399 USD (43,967 JPY) for the 120GB 3-cell version.
