More on AMD’s Netbook CPU Plans

AMD Back in July, we mentioned that AMD was planning on competing with Intel’s Atom CPU for netbooks. This after having criticized netbooks in the past.

AMD is apparently going to be announcing a new CPU aimed squared at Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs) and netbooks, with a focus on extending battery life, while boosting video performance. It will probably include technology from ATI, the graphics / chipset company that merged with AMD.

I agree with Brad at liliputing, I’d rather see an emphasis on multi-tasking and dual-core CPUs. Most of what many netbook users are doing is more CPU-intensive than graphics-intensive.
