The new 10.2″ Intel Atom-powered Asus Eee PC 1002HA netbook has now been officially announced. It’s right under the Asus Eee PC S101 in the Asus Eee PC family, with a more elegant / professional design (including brushed aluminum parts of the case). It was right around a week ago that there was a hands-on preview of the 1002HA with LAPTOP Magazine.
This is a new design, with aluminum being used around the LED-backlit display as well as the palmrest, allowing for a netbook just an inch thick. It features Asustek’s Super Hybrid Engine which allows for around 4-5 hours of battery life depending on use. It appears to have a normal-sized 2.5″ HDD, coming with 160GB, along with 10GB of ASUS Eee Online Storage.
The price is reasonable, given that it’s positioned above the typical Eee PC netbooks and right below the S101 – $495 – $499 in the US, and it does come with Bluetooth and 802.11b/g/n connectivity, along with three USB 2.0 ports. It should be available in the next few weeks, given that some major online retailers are taking pre-orders.
