Could Acer be phasing out its 8.9″ Acer Aspire One in favor of the upcoming 10.1″ model?
DigiTimes is reporting that they are looking at discontinuing the 8.9-inch line, which is manufactured by Quanta Computer, sometime in the second quarter of this year. The 10.1-inch line would be made by Compal Electronics.
At the same time, Quanta Computer would be making what DigiTimes is calling “two enterprise models”, both a 10.1″ and an 8.9″. Keep in mind the current 8.9″ Acer Aspire One is oriented towards the consumer markets.
This would put Acer in a similar position to HP, with their consumer-oriented HP Mini 1000 and HP Mini 1100 lines, along with their business/professional-oriented HP Mini 2140 line.
