PriceGrabber.com – Netbooks Are Small, But Big

Netbooks PriceGrabber.com (and Market Reporter) have put together and released a “Consumer Behavior Report” for January, 2009, entitled The Netbook Trends and Solid-State Technology Forecast. It’s based on 1500+ respondents who completed a survey a few weeks ago.

Among the data from the report PriceGrabber.com, 48% of the top 25 products in the laptop category are classified by PriceGrabber.com as netbooks, with the 8.9″ Acer Aspire One leading the way, with 4 out of the top 10 netbook models (including two out of the top 5). Lenovo followed it up with two out of the top five models as well for the Lenovo IdeaPad S10.

The top 5 netbooks listed:
1) Acer Aspire One 150-1126
2 and 4) Lenovo IdeaPad S10 (probably different colors)
3) Hewlett-Packard Mini 1000
5) Acer Aspire One A150-1447
6) Samsung NC10-14GB
7) Acer Aspire One 150-1672
8) Acer Aspire One AOA150-1570
9) Dell Inspiron Mini 9
10) Asus Eee PC 900HA

Some of the other interesting details – over 90% of the people who buy netbooks already own a laptop, with over 85% also owning a desktop. It’s clear that netbooks are becoming a second (or even third) device for many. That would seem to support the argument put forth by some that many people do in fact realize the role that netbooks have and where exactly they fit into the world of personal computers.
