If you cannot wait on the new Asus Eee PC 1000HE and you’re located in the US, you are in luck if you are willing to pay around $390. There’s quite a bit of interest in it – it’s got a fairly cheap price – $365 – $390 USD, and it’s packed with a high-capacity battery and Intel’s new Atom N280 which offers a faster frontside-bus than existing N270 CPUs.
ZipZoomFly has it listed as shipping within 24 hours (this is for the black version).
NCIX.com (Canada) shows it shipping within 1-2 weeks for $469.99 CAD (around $376 USD).
Some retailers have an instant rebate of $25 through Feb 28, 2009:
– Amazon ($374.99) – EPC1000HE-BLK005X – Black (Fine Ebony)
– Amazon ($374.99) – EPC1000HE-BLU002X – Blue
– J&R ($364.99) – ASUS EPC1000HE-BLU002X – Blue
– J&R ($364.99) – ASUS EPC1000HE-BLK005X – Black (Fine Ebony)
Amazon actually caught quite a few people off guard and started shipping the 10-inch Acer Aspire One, before Acer’s official ship dates, and J&R is listing the above black 1000HE as “Temporarily out of stock” indicating either that they’ve already received a shipment or notification of a shipment and all of those are allotted to pre-orders, or they had already received some and then shipped those out.
All of the currently listed 1000HE models have the same specifications – Intel Atom N280 (1.66GHz), 1GB RAM, 160GB HDD, Bluetooth, Windows XP Home, and a 6-cell battery.
