Zigzag Designs has put together an interesting collection of laptop patents/inventions that have been filed over the past several years, including some from HP, IBM, and Samsung. Some of the ones with projection displays interested me – if you could work out a small enough projector with a decent resolution and refresh rate, it’s possible you could save weight, size, battery life, or all three (then again, nobody has done it so maybe it’s not possible).
jkOnTheRun noticed that ThinkPad X41 Tablets are now being sold by MicroCenter, and it looks like they are starting at $1749. Kind of interesting to see ThinkPads being sold in retail shops (Office Depot or Office Max sell some ThinkPads as well).
I was watching the Olympics last night, and among the commercials, a commercial from Lenovo touting the new ThinkPad X60. The X60 is one of the first ultraportables shipping with an Intel Core Duo CPU, and while its 12.1-inch display still isn’t widescreen, it’s one of the newest ultraportables to consider looking at if you are in the market for one.
I found it very interesting that they have specific commercials for the X60, but then again I’m like that.
The Lenovo ThinkPad X41 Tablet
won the 2005 Engadget Awards for both Readers’ Choice and Engadget Pick in the Tablet PC Category .
According to CNET News Asia, Lenovo’s ThinkPad X60 will be have 3G connectivity.
