Lenovo To Start Selling ThinkPads at Best Buy

CNET News.com is reporting that Best Buy will soon start selling ThinkPads as well as Lenovo’s new 3000 series PCs/Notebooks. This is in addition to their retail sales through Office Depot.

This comes at a good point, as the ThinkPad X60 and X60s are getting lots of positive press, and with rumors of a ThinkPad X60 Tablet PC around the corner as well. Continue reading

Austek To Build 1.2 Million iBooks?

According to Forbes, Austek has been contracted to build 1.2 million Intel-powered iBooks with 13.3 widescreen displays (the displays are from AU Optronics Corp, Chi Mei Optoelectronics Corp, and LG Philips LCD). No word on if it’s Core Solo or Core Duo. These have been rumored for quite a long time, and this is the first solid evidence we have of them.

They are expected to ship to customers in June. It’s safe to assume that they will have the same dual-boot capability (Windows and Mac OS X) that current Intel-based Macs have. Continue reading

Dell Inspiron Warranties – Upgraded

According to CNET News.com, Dell is going to be upgrading the limited warranties on its Inspiron lineup (including the Inspiron 710M) from 90 days to one year.

This could be a sign that manufactuers are going to start increasing the length of their warranties, which is a reversal from earlier trends of shortening them.

No word on if this is going to be retroactive for those customers who just recently purchased Inspirons. Continue reading
