Announced: HTC Shift

HTC ShiftHTC has announced the HTC Shift – a truly ultraportable laptop, with a keyboard, and a Touchscreen with stylus. It has a 7-inch widescreen display (800×480 resolution), with 1GB of memory and a 30GB harddrive. No word on CPU or chipset or graphics chipset, although HTC claims it will handle Microsoft Windows Vista’s Aero interface.

PC Magazine had a Hands-on with the Shift and had this to say:

Most importantly, the Shift has a lust factor. It’s bigger than other nanoportables like the OQO, but its soft metallic luster, high-res screen and real-looking keyboard made us, at least, believe that could get some work done on it. The device will launch in the third quarter of this year through “standard PC channels,” not at cell phone stores, and it will be “aggressively priced,” HTC reps conveyed.
