Deal of the Week: HP Pavilion tx1000z ($699)

Note: This deal is now over
HP Pavilion tx1000z

Now that the HP Pavilion tx2000z, HP’s latest “entertainment” 12.1″ widescreen Tablet PC/Convertible Laptop is in production, prices on its predecessor, the HP Pavilion tx1000z, are being reduced quite a bit to clear out existing inventories.

You can now find (if you are in the US), the tx1000z on sale at Office Depot for $699.99 (before taxes, but has free shipping if you qualify) through January 26, 2008 (sale page at Office Depot).

The particular model on sale has these specifications:

– 2GB DDR2 Memory
– 160GB Hard Drive
– Windows Vista Home Premium
– AMD Turion 64 X2 TL-58 (1.9GHz, 1MB L2)
– 802.11b/g
– Integrated fingerprint reader

See the above Office Depot page for full details/requirements.

Lest you think this is not a good deal, considering the tx2000z is coming out, the tx2000z is still very similar to the tx1000z – the main differences are:
– Active digitizer (maybe important for some if you need a stylus/pen setup)
– Larger initial CPU, hard drive, and memory options
– “Echo” Finish

If you can get by without an active digitizer (the 1000z has a normal touchscreen), this is a very good deal, and hard to beat for a new Tablet PC convertible.
