NVidia Brings GeForce 9400M to Atom Platform

NVIDIA Although they are initially talking about “nettops” (aka desktop versions of netbooks), this is still interesting news. Intel and NVidia are going to work together to help NVidia adapt their MCP79 (9400M) GeForce chipset to the Intel Atom platform.

This would be a huge boost in graphics performance. The article mentions “during the initial period” leaving the door open for other devices/platforms to receive the same treatment later on (netbooks anyone?).

Asustek, Gigabyte, and Micro-Star International (MSI) are mentioned as welcoming the partnership, and while all are involved in nettops, they are also heavily involved in netbooks, particularly Asustek and MSI.
