DigiTimes is reporting that Hewlett-Packard plans on pushing notebooks with 16:9 aspect ratios towards the end of this year, with the goal of having 16:9 displays become mainstream displays in 2009.
The size of such displays would range from 13″ to 13.9″ and would be cheaper to make.
16:9 is the international standard for HDTVs in many parts of the world.
It would affect 14″ models (possibly cutting into sales / production), although HP would still produce 14″ laptops.
