If you are looking for a third party Solid State Drive (SSD) to upgrade the storage in your 10.2″ Asus S101, you are in luck. Super Talent Technology has announced three new SSD options for the high-end netbook.
The S101 currently comes with three options:
– Windows XP: 16GB SSD
– Linux: 32GB or 64 GB SSD
If you bought the 16GB or 32GB version, you can now upgrade up to 64GB using the SATA Mini PCIe slot, or you can upgrade to a faster SLC option. Unlike a lot of other upgrades, you actually get a choice of MLC (Multi-Level Cell) or SLC (Single-Level Cell) – most options are MLC (which is cheaper, but not as fast as SLC). The options from Super Talent are:
MLC:
– 16GB (FPM16RSE), 32GB (FPM32RSE), 64GB (FPM64RSE)
– Read: 90MB/sec (max)
– Write: 55MB/sec (max)
– 1 year warranty
SLC:
– 16GB (FPD16RSE), 32GB (FPD32RSE)
– Read: 95MB/sec (max)
– Write: 90MBsec (max)
– 3 year warranty
Super Talent lists the 64GB MLC (FPM64RSE) SSD module as $169.
