If you are in the UK and looking for an HP Mini 1000, don’t get your hopes up anytime soon.
HP was originally going to launch the regular Mini 1000 in the UK right around this time.
According to Pocket-lint, they have instead decided to launch the Compaq 700 and the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition (which is a designer edition):
“HP is committed to developing new products in the mini PC market and will launch the Compaq 700 and the HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition”, HP said.
“The company has assessed the current EMEA market and believes that the Compaq 700 and HP Mini 1000 Vivienne Tam Edition better address the market and consumer needs. As a result the HP Mini 1000 with Mobile Internet Experience will not be introduced in EMEA”.
The HP and Compaq netbooks are actually fairly close in specifications, although the HP has a 16:9 10.1-inch display while the Compaq version has a 10.2″ 16:10 inch display, along with some HSDPA modem options.
