PC World is running an interesting article, comparing three other ultraportables (one Toshiba, two Fujitsus) to the Apple MacBook Air with different display sizes (12.1″ widescreen and 10.6″ widescreens). Unfortunately there hasn’t been a chance to test and review the Lenovo ThinkPad X300, which is probably going to be one of the closest competitors to the MacBook Air (leaving out all other variables for the moment, including Operating System and price).
Ultraportables discussed and some of their pluses and minuses compared to the MacBook Air:
Toshiba Portege R500 (12.1″):
Plus: Lighter, has built-in optical drive.
Minus: Smaller display, much more expensive
Fujitsu LifeBook P7230 (10.6″):
Plus: Lighter, built-in optical drive, more ports, great battery life
Minus: Smaller display
Fujitsu LifeBook T2010 Tablet PC (12.1″):
Plus: Incredible battery life (nearly 7 hours on a 9-cell), great display indoor or out.
