Lenovo ThinkPad X200T (Tablet) - Hands-On (GBM)

September 19, 2008

Lenovo ThinkPad X200 Tablet Almost a month ago, the new 12.1″ convertible Lenovo ThinkPad X200T (or X200 Tablet) made a debut of sorts at the FCC.

Now it, along with the Lenovo ThinkPad X200s, are about to make their formal entrance into the laptop market next week (the Lenovo ThinkPad X200 already has).

GottaBeMobile’s Warner Crocker got his hands on one last night and put together a hands-on video review for his InkShow, as well as some comparisons against its predecessor, the non-widescreen Lenovo ThinkPad X61 Tablet (the X200 Tablet is a widescreen - with the X200 series, Lenovo has transitioned to widescreen across all of it’s ultraportable laptops).

Fujitsu U2010 / U820 Photos

September 15, 2008

Fujitsu U2010 U820 BuyKing.com has several high-resolution photos of the flyer from the upcoming 5.6″ ultraportable convertible Fujitsu U2010 / U820.

This is a major upgrade over the previous U1010 / U810, which used a more conventional laptop-oriented CPU from Intel. The U2010 / U820 has moved to Intel’s Atom CPU, moving it into netbook territory.

Some really nice looking photos from the flyer, including showing off the dock, as well as a vehicle mounting system (think GPS navigation, etc.). There’s even a photo of it mounted on a bicycle.

The last we heard, at least as far as news for North America, is that it was making its way through the FCC.

HP 2730p Elitebook First Look (GBM)

September 12, 2008

HP EliteBook 2730p Warner Crocker over at GottaBeMobile has posted a video first-look at the new 12.1″ HP Elitebook 2730p Tablet PC.

He thinks it’s going to be a really popular because HP listened to HP 2710p users in regards to some of the complaints they had. They’ve bumped up options when it comes to input options (including a jog dial). They’ve also made it more durable.

The 2730p Warner has is unfortunately not running a Solid State Drive (SSD), but instead is running a 1.8″ conventional HDD, with Vista Business (he does hope to have an SSD version in the near future).

Fujitsu LifeBook P1630 at the FCC

August 31, 2008

Fujtisu LifeBook p1610 Last week we mentioned that supplies of the convertible 8.9-inch Fujitsu LifeBook P1610 and P1620 seemed to be drying up and that a sequel might be on the way.

That sequel has shown up at the FCC in the US. It’s very similar to the past P-series models, with updated chipsets (including a major graphics chipset update) and CPUs.

The users manual is included at the FCC site.

Both Windows XP Tablet PC and Vista are mentioned in the manual, and there are two CPU choices, both still Ultra Low Voltage (ULV).

Specifications from the FCC Test model and manual:

Fujitsu LifeBook T1010 Review (TabletPCReview User)

August 26, 2008

Fujitsu LifeBook T1010 Johnson Vue, a user over at TabletPCReview.com, has put together a review of the budget-minded 13.3-inch Fujitsu LifeBook T1010. The T1010 is a convertible Tablet PC (converts back and forth between laptop and Tablet PC form with a swivel-mounted display) with a passive touchscreen.

The T1010 is a good value - starting at under $1400 and with the latest 45nm Intel Core 2 Duos (and DDR3 to boot).

Vue was impressed with the build quality, saying “Pushing on the screen doesn’t seem to do anything to this tablet either. There is no rippling of rainbows at all on the screen. It feels like the screen can handle pressure very well. When twisting the frame of the LCD screen, it barely budges. You can be well assured that this tablet was designed with quality in mind.”
