Announced: Toshiba Tecra M6

Along with the Toshiba Satellite U200 series announced this week, Toshiba has also announced the availability of another Intel Centrino/Core Duo-powered ultraportable notebook, the Toshiba Tecra M6. The Tecra M6 also has a 12.1-inch widescreen display and weighs in at a just over 4 pounds. Basically, the Tecra M6 is the business version of the U200 series – the M6 has additional security options as well as configuration options.

It starts at around $1059 for the baseline model (40GB harddrive, 256MB of memory, no wireless, Intel Celeron), but you are better off going up a bit to get the Core Duo and wireless – there is no point in buying last year’s laptop.

Announced: Toshiba Satellite U200

Looks like Toshiba has announced another Intel Core Duo ultraportable, the Toshiba Satellite U200. This time around it’s only a notebook and not a convertible/Tablet PC (like the Toshiba M400. It has a 12.1-inch “TruBrite” widescreen display (1280×800), and is powered by a range of processors, from Intel’s Celeron M 420 up through Intel’s Core Solo and Core Duo lineup. The harddrive is a Serial-ATA (SATA) and ranges in size from 40GB up through 120GB.

Review: Toshiba Portege M200 (The Gadgeteer)

The Gadgeteer has a review of Toshiba’s ultraportable “convertible” Portege M200 Tablet PC. As James Kendrick points out, it’s a good review as the person reviewing it has never used a Tablet PC before. Whenever I say convertible, I’m talking about a notebook that has both a physical keyboard, as well as the ability to change into a Tablet PC, complete with Microsoft’s Tablet PC version of Windows XP.
